Think Like The Rich

Being rich means many things to many people.  For some it could be measured purely in the amount of money you have.  Others consider themselves rich if they have everything they need and they enjoy how they get it.  And for others, it’s simply having the love of the people around them.  No matter your definition, in order to be rich, you have to have the mindset of a rich person.  One of the best ways to do that, and opportune way at this time, is to read the kind of books that rich people read.  Here are the top five types of books read by those who are rich…

1.  Human Relationships

If you want to be rich in life, you have to have good relationships.  One of the best way to build good relationships, or strengthen the ones you have, is to study relationships.  By studying relationships, you can discover ways to be a better spouse, parent, and friend.  This will add so much joy to your life.  Just become a student of relationships.    If you want to read a great book on relationships, read Family Wisdom From The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma.  Here is my affiliate link to pick it up:

2.  Negotiation

If you want to be successful, you have to know how to negotiate.  You need to know how to work and talk with someone so that you both can mutually benefit from working together.  Opportunities for success and great partnerships are lost because people don’t know how to talk to each other and communicate a win-win situation.  Or worse yet, the person is not even seeking a win-win outcome.  Books about negotiation can fill this gap.  One great book on win-win outcomes is Crucial Conversations:  Tools For Talking When The Stakes Are High.  Pick it up via my affiliate link here:

3.  Leadership

Everyone will follow a strong leader.  One who looks out for people and puts the needs of others above his/her own.  Being a strong leader is not some secret.  There are tons of books on leadership out there.  Leaders are effective….they make change.  And that change begins with passion and compassion.  A great book on leadership with passion and compassion is Start With Why by Simon Sinek.  A great book on how to be effective is from Stephen Covey titled:  The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  Pick them up here:

4.  Biographies

If you want to be rich, read the biographies of rich people.  The pages of their biographies are filled with their successes and failures.  Biographies share with you how even the most successful people struggled and fought their way to the top.  You don’t have to figure it out on your own.  Read the biographies of those you admire and learn from their struggles.

Two people who I admire are our former president, Abraham Lincoln, and tech giant, Steve Jobs.  Lincoln The Unknown by Dale Carnegie was the first and only book that actually made me laugh out loud over something President Lincoln said before he was married.  Steve Jobs, by Walter Isaacson, was also a great book looking into the mind of one of the most successful tech giants of all time.  Pick their books up here:

5.  Money

And who can be rich if you don’t read about money.  Books about making money, saving money, and growing money.  It’s true that money won’t bring you happiness, but like Forest Gump said when Lieutenant Dan said they didn’t have to worry about money any more, “That’s good.  One less thing.”  Read books about money and entrepreneurship.  They will teach you everything you need to know.  There are tons of great books.  One of my favorite, and the one that got me started reading at least 30 minutes a day, is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.  This is a great book and an easy read.  Pick it up here:
