16. Share Your Happiness
Remember this song from your childhood, “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap, clap).” You’re welcome for that little reminder and putting the song in your head all day. But this is so true. If you are happy, share it with others. No, you don’t want to be that guy or gal who is happy in the wrong situation, but you can share happiness and joy with others when it is appropriate. Let your happiness be infectious and go out of your way to share some joy with someone who needs it in their life.
17. Seek And Enjoy Healthy Relationships
Find people who are doing positive things in their life and make them your friends. Seek out people who are moving in the direction you are moving or who are already where you want to be. Learn how they got there. What attitudes and philosophies do they have? Seek out these positive people and make them a part of your life.
18. Be Happy For Other People
When something great happens for someone, be happy for them. Unhappy people are generally jealous and envious when something great happens for their friend and not them. This negativity can bring you down and steal your happiness if you don’t curtail it when it happens. Sure, it can be natural sometimes to be jealous, but that is when you have to step back, be happy for the other person, and then appreciate what you have. You’ll find gratitude more satisfying than envy.
19. Have A Healthy Support Network
If you want to be happy, you have to surround yourself with happy, positive people. Do you spend your time with people who are generally positive and supportive or negative and exhausting? Sure, we all have people in our lives who are a bit negative, but it doesn’t mean we have to spend the majority of our time with them. Try to spend your time with people who are positive, happy, and supportive. Be supportive of them and they will be supportive of you. Build a strong support network.
20. Have A Purpose
Ah, the Purpose of Life. Why are we here? What’s it all mean? These are the questions that seem kinda weird to ponder, so most people don’t. Maybe you don’t have to think about these questions, but you do need a reason to get out of bed every morning. What gets you moving? What keeps you going when life seems to be winning? It could be that you want to have a huge impact on the world, your community, or your family. All of these are equally important and can give you purpose in life. Figure yours out and work towards that purpose every day. This is a sure way to find true happiness.
