People always say that being successful is too hard. They think you have to be smart, have a lot of money already, or simply be lucky to make any real progress in life. This is why so many people just let things happen to them rather than make things happen for them. They believe they have to react to whatever life throws at them rather than proactively trying to make things happen. This is an excuse to be lazy and not even try. But this is simply not true.
In order to be successful, at anything you do, you only need three things. I promise that if you have these three things, success is just around the corner. So, what are these three things?
1. A Good Habit
If you want to be successful at something, you have to identify the one habit you can build that will move you in that direction. For example, if you want to be healthier and in better shape, what is the ONE thing you can do right now that will move you along that path? Perhaps it is that you have to work out 3x a week. Then establish that habit. What if you want to be smarter with your money and maybe do some investing, then what is the one habit that will help you get there? Maybe it is reading for 30 minutes a day from an investing book, or watching money related videos on YouTube. What if you want to improve your relationship with your significant other, then what is the ONE thing that you know would help that relationship grow? Make it a habit to do that ONE thing regularly and watch that relationship get stronger. You HAVE to have a good habit to get you on the road to success.
2. Faith
You have to have faith that the good habit you have identified will get you what you want in the end. Too many times we start off strong, confident in what we believe, but then we start to question it. We question it when we don’t see the results we want to see fast enough. We start to doubt our good habit. We start to doubt that we even want the success we were originally striving to achieve. There are a million things that could make you lose faith, but you have to believe you are on the road to success. Sure, you may need to re-assess where you are and how you can tweak your good habit to optimize your path to success, but you MUST NEVER lose faith. Have faith that you are doing the right thing and don’t let anyone sway you otherwise.
3. Persistence
Persistence is defined as “continuing firmly or obstinately in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.” The road to success will not always be smooth, so you have to be persistent. You have to grit your teeth and push through. You have to be strong when the going gets tough. You have to be persistent when you lose faith or when others are not supporting you. You HAVE to do the right things when you don’t feel like doing them. You HAVE to know that you can be successful if you just hold on a little longer, push a little harder, and be persistent. Have an unquestionable drive for success that no one can stop!!!
Final Thoughts
Jim Rohn always said that “Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day.” This simply means that if you want to be successful in any thing you do, identify the habit you need to establish to get you there. Sure, some times multiple habits can get you to success faster, but you have to have a least one. Once you have that good habit, you have to have faith in it. Believe it will get you there. Lastly, you have to be persistent and continue that habit even when you don’t feel like it.
Success is really pretty simple, just three things, but so many people don’t see it, so they never get started. Don’t be one of those people. Know that success is within your reach and all you have to do is get started with these three things to get there.
I know these are three things you have probably heard before, but have you ever really listened? Or have you already written these three things off because “Everyone knows that.” These three things are nothing new, but living by them is only done by the minority. And that minority of people are the ones who find success!!!
You want to be part of the majority of people who write these things off, or a part of the minority of people who practice these daily and reach success??? It’s up to you!!!
